Breathe. Relax. Unwind.

Although just five miles outside the town of Elgin, Blackhills feels surprisingly remote. As you approach the tree-lined drive you are transported further away from the pressures of everyday life and closer to an unspoilt hideaway. With regular flights from Bristol, Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton to Inverness and Aberdeen or the Caledonian Sleeper Train for added charm, it's quick, easy and inexpensive to get here and a haven of calm once you've arrived.

Choose from four self-catering cottages, each with their own character, from where you can enjoy our magical woodland garden, play tennis on our secluded court, visit our pottery or explore Moray Speyside – a hidden Highland gem.

All cottages are within easy walking distance from one another and away from public roads. Separate enough to allow privacy from others but close enough to rent all four for larger groups, they are perfect for family getaways and get-togethers or for individuals.

The water is our own private supply from the Blackhills' spring. This fresh Highland water is tested regularly and is not only safe to drink but makes for the most refreshing cup of tea.

Fresh linen is provided for the duration of your stay as well as a welcome package to see you through your first couple of days. Each cottage also has an information pack with local information, general helpful hints and essential contacts so you might get away with avoiding the internet during your stay, if you wish. Please feel free to arrange for groceries to be delivered to your cottage.

Well-behaved dogs are always welcome.

The Mains House

Situated close to the tennis court and with direct access to the woodland garden, The Mains House is a traditional Speyside two-storey stone farmhouse. Downstairs is an open-plan kitchen and dining room with a utility room leading from it; the perfect place to dump your dirty walking boots or fishing tackle.

The living room has a wood-burning stove to keep you cosy in the colder months. The house sleeps six with one small, single room downstairs with a trundle bed, perfect for younger children, and two larger bedrooms upstairs. The bathroom is also upstairs with a bath, a shower over the bath, wash basin and toilet.

All rooms have original fireplaces: two are working fireplaces, one open fire in the kitchen and the other a wood-burning stove in the sitting room.

White Cottage

White Cottage sits at the edge of woodland, almost hidden from view. Able to accommodate six to eight people, it works well for a family getaway at any time of the year. The living room has a wood-burning stove perfect for winter evenings with friends and family.

The large extra living room upstairs can be used for yoga practice, as a playroom or a den for older kids. We can put up to four beds in the room so they can make the space their own.

There are two bathrooms: the family bathroom has a bath, shower, wash basin and loo; the second bathroom has a shower, basin and loo.

The cottage has lovely views from all vantage points and has its own spring water.

The Bungalow

A smaller house that can sleep four, The Bungalow has a cosy living room with wood-burning stove, kitchen with dining area, a shower room and, of course, those incredible surroundings.

It is ideal for individuals, couples, or a smaller family.

Garden Cottage

The Garden Cottage is our largest house created by linking two cottages. Set in a secluded position with its own fully enclosed private garden with fruit trees and summerhouse, this cottage is particularly ideal for use by a group of friends or two families with or without your dog.
